Renewing Library Items
To renew items, go to the "My Library Account" page. LSU students and faculty may click on the button labeled "Library Catalog Login Page for LSU Affiliates" and log in with your LSU credentials. Once logged in, go to the tab labeled "Checkouts" and select the items you wish to renew, then click the "Renew" button.
Please note that students may renew journals 7 times and books 10 times before items have to be brought back to the desk for re-checkout. Faculty and staff may renew journals 26 times and books 30 times before these items reach their renewal limit and have to be returned to the desk for re-checkout.
Materials may be renewed at the Access Services Desk in room 241 by presenting the items for renewal along with a current ID or public patron card. While electronic items cannot be renewed, they may be checked out again to the previous user as long as enough machines are available for other patrons.
Non-reserve items may be renewed using the self-checkout machine on the 1st floor.
The following materials may not be renewed:
- reserve materials, including electronic items
- items on hold
- items held by borrower whose ID is blocked
- materials that have been renewed up to ten times
Public patrons are those who have a borrowing card but not an LSU ID card. To log in, go to the "My Library Account" page and click on the button labeled "Library Catalog Login Page for Public Patrons" at the buttom of the screen. You must have a PIN to log in to your library account. If you have forgotten or do not have a PIN, you can set or reset one. To do this, visit the login page and click on the "I don't know my PIN" link. You will receive an email with a link to a page where your PIN can be set. After setting your PIN, you will be logged in. Click on the "My Account" link, then the “Checkouts” tab to renew checked-out items.
If you already have your PIN, just click on the “My Account” link on the library homepage to log in directly to your account.
